Matraville Sports High School's Year 8 Visual Arts students have artwork displayed at St James Railway Station in Sydney's CBD from the 30 October - 1 December 2015 as part of the World's Biggest Classroom. The chosen theme for 2015 was FOOTPRINT FREE: Sustainable living and ethical art. The Year 8 students chose to explore the importance of recycling and incorporated endangered animals in their work.
Each student learnt the practical art making technique of linocut printing that involves hand carving their chosen designs and then learning how to print them using ink. Research played an important role in their artworks, both understanding the impact to the environment as well as the loss of species.
