Winter Indigenous Education Program 20-23 July 2015
A program hosted by Matraville Sports High School saw 150 UNSW pre service teachers participate in a 4 day educational program in our school hall. The aim of the program was to engage students with local Aboriginal communities, their culture and perspectives. It ensured that students were immersed in theoretical and practical experiences that enriched their ability to professionally apply strategies for teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students as well as developing an understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote reconilication between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
The school was very proud to have had the opportunity to host this event alongside the UNSW.
