Deputy of Inclusion and Support
At Matraville Sports High School we are proud to have a dedicated Deputy of Inclusion and Support who plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The role focuses on leading improvement in the learning, wellbeing, and independence of students with disabilities.
The Deputy of Inclusion, William Lundon, collaborates with teachers, staff, and parents to implement strategies that promote inclusivity, emotional well-being, and academic success for all students.
Learning Support
The Learning and Support Team (LST) is a whole-of-school planning and support framework which assists in maximising the educational experiences and outcomes of every student.
Some students need additional support to access the full range of education opportunities. These additional learning needs may stem from a broad range of circumstances being experienced by the student, their family, and their school. Supports may be needed over the short term or ongoing throughout schooling. They may relate to disability or difficulties in learning or behaviour.
The learning and support team’s primary functions are to facilitate and coordinate a whole school approach to improving the learning outcomes of every student. The team coordinates processes and resourcing for the students with additional learning and support needs. They design and implement the supports required to build teacher capacity to deliver adjustments that enable all students to access quality learning. The team prides themselves on developing collaborative partnerships with the school, parents/carers, other professionals, and the wider school community.
For more information see Learning and Support.
STAR program
Further to the Learning and Support framework, Matraville Sports High School offer a STAR program. STAR stands for Student, Transition, Access, and Retention. It is a supported mainstream enrolment program developed to support the academic and wellbeing needs of students.
The program aims to support students with additional learning and attention barriers. These students require additional support because they learn differently to their peers. Through the program we aim to implement effective strategies for teaching students with diversity, facilitate connections and provide support & assistance.
